Dr. Tassos taught me biology and was the vice principal in our school for a year. During this year he made most if not all his classes interactive, and made sure every student understood the material, even explaining the material individually when needed. Both as a Teacher and as a Vice Principal he treated everyone with kindness and respect. He constantly worked to influence positive changes in the school and encouraged students to try new things, so they gain more experience and broaden their horizons, while also giving the students all the support he could in what they were interested.

Dr. Tassos is an incredibly knowledgeable educational leader who is adept at creating a comprehensive curriculum for students. He has a very good understanding of the IB philosophy and its application in the classroom. I have known Tassos for so many years now. I was first attracted to his work while he was in Cyprus where he inspired leaders and teachers to become passionate educators. He talks about quality and transformation, creativity, acceptance and respect, and above all he talks about future journeys that pave the way. Tassos would be so welcomed to return and assist our small Cypriot community where education is going through changes. ‘Less is more’ I hear him say, ‘shift the paradigm’ ‘believe it can be done’, ‘welcome technology, it is here to stay’ ‘train teachers to own their practice’ ‘train leaders to empower education’ and ‘policy makers to be thinking of the future’ and more. As a leader, he communicates his thinking clearly, strategically, with evidence, and above all with passion. Tassos has travelled extensively and he has experienced different cultures, different value systems, and national as well as international expectations with wide perspectives placed on regulations. With such a wealth of knowledge, he can most definitely, give back to Cyprus. I would personally envisage him setting up departments for new learning, implementing methodologies which are reflective of the now and the tomorrow, training and leading, putting emphasis on assessment, and quality, evaluating what is best for the children of today who will lead tomorrow. What kind of a leader is Tassos? Well, he is one that leads by example, with compassion and a genuine drive, encouraging all learners to fulfil their personal success. I am very enthusiastic about the possibility of Tassos returning to Cyprus and certainly we can all gain, from his varied and enriched leadership experience. Dr. Tassos is the Head of School at Edubridge International School where I work as a PYP Homeroom Educator. He implemented a refined system of assessment in the school and guided the whole staff towards this gradual shift. The learning steps helped each teacher create a differentiated learning plan for students working at varied levels of attainment within the same classroom with ongoing assessment and timely evidencing being the focus. I worked with him on a group called ‘Leaders of Learning’ which focused on improving teaching & learning practices in an informal and non intimidating manner. It was a dynamic group and open to all, making it a diverse one. As a leader, Dr. Tassos is approachable and a visionary. One can speak to him and be assured of getting a meaningful acknowledgment, assistance and help. He is open to suggestions and always gives opportunities to everyone in the team.

Dr. Tassos Anastasiades has the qualities of a leader who is authentic, real, humble, and kind. He is open minded with creative ideas. He welcomes creativity and inspires many to do the same. He is passionate about education. He sees what others can’t see, a visionary leader. He is futuristic. He has the charisma of leaders needed to make our today’s world a better place. Dr. Tassos is life long educator, dedicated to his students, parents, community, and colleagues. He has been an inspiration to us in Mumbai . He has offered workshops for his colleagues in assessment management and has gained the respect of his fellow School Heads in India. Dr. Tassos is a collaborator and has been supportive in helping fellow school heads in India develop strategies to address the Corona virus from formulation of a school protocol to managing distance learning initiatives. Dr Tassos is also dedicated to the core beliefs of an international school, promoting global understanding and ongoing academic Inquiry.

Dr. Tassos is kind, warm-hearted person. He is the quickest person I know in terms of responding to emails, texts or any other issues which come his way. He wears different hats and is often see on a normal school day taking rounds in the school campus interacting with students and teachers. With all these interactions he keeps himself updated with the happening in and around school and is able to help with his valuable advice. He also brings a personal touch by participating in football matches played between staff and students, and sometime by just attending these events. He has a great vision and has started many programs which helped teachers and students. One example was the introduction of International Award for Youth Program in Edubridge International School. He arranged for a training in which few interested teachers were trained who could run this program for our MYP and DP students across the school. He has several accomplishments, with a plethora of experiences as he has led many schools in different parts of the world. All in all, Dr. Tassos possesses excellent administrative skills, is a problem solver and an open-minded person who can adapt to any situation or environment.

I have worked with Tassos for nearly ten years providing school improvement support within the schools he has worked. I have always found him to be tenacious in his quest to improve the schools he has worked with. Within this he is dedicated to improving the life chances of the students and teachers he works with and has a great belief that this is best achieved through giving respect to the abilities of all lifelong learners to contribute significantly to their own learning. This often means that a significant cultural change is needed within the schools he has worked which is probably the most significant challenge any leader has to overcome. His successes in all of the schools he has worked have been built on the belief that all is possible if the direction provided to the school community is consistent and supported by others who work for and with him. For example, within the Innoventures group of schools in Dubai the fruits of his labours led to one of the schools becoming the first IB school in the UAE to achieve outstanding status within the inspection process. Tassos also believes that the need for students to be independent learners has to be within the context of being a successful 21st century learner and therefore the role of IT is crucial to this. His drive and passion for improvement is second to none not only for the schools within which he works but also for himself and the much wider education community as a whole.
